On meeting the fabulous Danny Wallace ...

Dannywallace0012_24Last night was fantastic! The sun was actually shining for the first time in at least a week when my sister and I set off for Greenwich to meet Danny Wallace. It was a lovely evening. We arrived at Ottakers a bit early and were greeted by free wine and nibbles (result!) We managed to get good seats. Soon Danny arrived to read and analyse a couple of chapters of his book Yes Man and then it was time for questions and general discussion. For those people who haven't read the book, it's all about how Danny decided that he was fed up of his life and the fact that he was always saying no to offers and making excuses not to do things all the time. One day he decided that he was going to say 'Yes' to everything instead. It's a really funny book, but also at the same time strangely inspiring.

Then it was time for the book signings. The queue wasn't too long and Danny spent a lot of time chatting to everyone. He was lovely. Despite my hatred of having my photo taken, we had a couple taken with with him which was really cool. He signed a book I had bought for the boyfriend and wrote in mine 'You rock'. Which is obviously true.

On almost missing Danny Wallace ...

DannywallaceMy sister and I are big fans of Danny Wallace. For those few unenlightened people who are unsure of who he is, he is the author of the fantastic Join Me and Yes Man, which if you haven't read, I highly recommend! Danny has also recently been on TV in the shows How To Start Your Own Country and Schools Out. We were supposed to be going to his book reading and signing in Ottakers in Clapham tonight, except that's now not going to happen because I stupidly didn't realise that we needed to book tickets for it and by the time it dawned upon me, they were all sold out : (

Not one to be disheartened though, my sister rang Ottakers in Greenwich and to our delight they had two tickets left for his appearance there tomorrow night. Just two. It was obviously fate and definitely meant to be. So although we've got further to go and it means I'm going to have to miss yoga, we're not going to miss out on meeting our hero in the flesh! Am very excited!

Live your dreams. I feel that this isn't just my blog, it's EVERYBODY'S blog (*wiping away tears streaming down face*). Special thanks go to my wonderful friends Steph and Lisa who first introduced me to the world of blogging and of course, to the fantastic people at lastminute.com who made all of this possible.
