On (not) eating Smurf-flavoured ice-cream...

SmurfetteI bet you didn't know that in Tenerife they eat smurf-flavoured ice-cream. There was one ice-cream shop on the seafront at Los Cristianos that sold a variety of unusual flavoured ice-creams, such as chewing-gum. The boyfriend and I are not great at Spanish, so when we went to have a look, in several cases we had to judge by the pictures stuck in the ice-cream what the flavour was meant to be. For example, there was a reddish colour one, which helpfully had a picture of watermelon stuck in it. Simple. Apart from the fact that there was a very scary-looking bright blue coloured ice-cream (complete with red hundreds and thousands) which we couldn't identify. Apart from the fact that there was a picture of a smurf stuck in it. Surely the most logical conclusion is that it was made from smurfs and was therefore, smurf-flavoured?!

On the last night of the holiday, the boyfriend tried to make me purchase and eat said smurf-flavoured ice-cream. He said it might be my only chance to try it. I didn't really fancy it because I'd already had a large meal and a glass of wine and didn't want to be sick on the flight home that night. Then I remembered that I'd already consumed a blue (raspberry, not smurf-flavoured) Slush Puppy earlier in the afternoon and knew therefore that if I were to be sick, it would most probably come out blue. Plus, I'm a vegetarian and I'm sure that smurfs count as meat.
